Kargil Courier Service Resumes for Winter, 85 Passengers Airlifted on Day One

Kargil, Feb 7 (JKNS): The AN-32 Kargil Courier Service commenced on Saturday for the winter season, restoring crucial air connectivity for the people of Kargil during the harsh winter months when surface links remain cut off.

An official told news agency JKNS that the Indian Air Force AN-32 aircraft began its winter operations from Kargil, facilitating the movement of passengers, including patients, children and infants. “The resumption of the AN-32 service is vital for ensuring uninterrupted connectivity and essential travel during winter,” the official said.

The IAF crew was welcomed at Kargil Airport by Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Mohd Feroz, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Rakesh Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Imteeaz Kacho and other senior officers. Meanwhile, at Srinagar Airport, the aircraft crew was received by Er Aamir Ali, Chief Coordinator, Kargil Courier, along with the Airport Director Srinagar and senior officials of Airports Authority of India (AAI), CISF, BCAS, AIASL and liaison officers.

On the first day of operations, a total of 85 passengers were airlifted, with 29 passengers flown from Kargil to Srinagar and 53 passengers from Srinagar to Kargil, the official added. (JKNS)
