New Delhi – India has formally welcomed United States President Donald Trump’s recent announcement of a comprehensive plan aimed at ending the protracted conflict in Gaza.
In a social media post on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi endorsed the initiative, describing it as a significant step toward stability in the region.
“We welcome President Donald J. Trump’s announcement of a comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict,” Prime Minister Modi wrote. He stated that the plan “provides a viable pathway to long-term and sustainable peace, security, and development for the Palestinian and Israeli people, as also for the larger West Asian region.”
The Prime Minister further expressed his optimism that the initiative would gain broad support from all concerned parties. “We hope that all concerned will come together behind President Trump’s initiative and support this effort to end conflict and secure peace,” he added.
The US President’s proposal, announced following a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, reportedly includes an immediate ceasefire, an exchange of all hostages for Palestinian prisoners, a staged Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, and the disarmament of Hamas. The plan also calls for a transitional governance structure for Gaza, overseen by an international body.
India’s prompt backing of the plan aligns with its consistent call for a return to dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the Israel-Hamas conflict and pave the way for a two-state solution.
