Jhelum Water Levels Rise, Level Receding at Sangam; Officials Assure No Immediate Threat

Srinagar, Sep 3 (JKNS): Authorities on Wednesday said the water level of river Jhelum continues to rise, with the situation showing an upward trend across several monitoring points.

Details available with news agency JKNS that at Sangam, the Jhelum is expected to rise by a few more feet, with the upward trend likely to continue till evening and night hours.

At Ram Munshi Bagh in Srinagar, the water level has already crossed the Flood alert level and is expected to cross Flood declaration level during next 3 hours.

Officials cautioned that the rising trend expected to continue till late night or tomorrow morning.

At Asham in north Kashmir, the Jhelum is also expected to touch the Fl9od alert level Mark by late night.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as rainfall continues in the Valley, and contingency measures have been put in place. (JKNS)
