DR. AMBEDKAR NAGAR, MADHYA PRADESH—In a significant move to enhance joint operational capability, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan today released two landmark doctrinal publications at the RAN SAMWAD Tri-service seminar. The documents—the Joint Doctrine for Special Forces Operations and the Joint Doctrine for Airborne & Heliborne Operations—were unveiled at the Army War College.
The release ceremony was attended by the Chiefs of the Naval and Air Staff, Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi and Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, respectively, along with the Vice Chief of the Army Staff, Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh.
These doctrines, formulated under the aegis of the Doctrine Directorate, Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, and with the active participation of the three services, are designed to serve as guiding principles for a more synchronized approach to modern warfare. They outline operational concepts and interoperability frameworks for conducting Special Forces missions and Airborne Operations.
During the event, General Chauhan praised the three services for their professionalism, adaptability, and commitment to jointness. He emphasized that the new doctrines will serve as “pivotal references for planners, commanders and operators in the evolving battlespace.”
The release marks a significant step in fostering synergy across the Indian Armed Forces, ensuring they are prepared to meet emerging security challenges with precision and resolve. The publications are now accessible to the public on the official IDS website.
