PM Modi to Discuss Strategic Partnership in Japan, Attend SCO Summit in China

NEW DELHI — Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to embark on a two-nation visit to Japan and China from August 29 to September 1. The trip will focus on strengthening key bilateral ties and participating in a major multilateral summit, reports said.

Visit to Japan for Annual Summit: From August 29 to 30, PM Modi will travel to Japan for the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit. This will be his eighth visit to the country and his first summit with the new Japanese Prime Minister, Shigeru Ishiba.

During the meeting, the two leaders will review the “Special Strategic and Global Partnership” between India and Japan. The discussions will cover a wide range of topics, including defense, security, trade and economy, and technology and innovation. They will also address issues of regional and global importance.

Attendance at SCO Summit in China: Following his visit to Japan, PM Modi will travel to Tianjin, China, from August 31 to September 1 to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit. India has been a member of the SCO since 2017 and held the presidency of the Council of Heads of State in 2022-23.

On the sidelines of the summit, PM Modi is expected to hold bilateral meetings with several other leaders to discuss matters of mutual interest.
