New Delhi – On National Space Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India is rapidly advancing in breakthrough technologies like semi-cryogenic engines and electric propulsion, with the ultimate goal of launching the Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission and building its own space station.

In a video message, the Prime Minister extended greetings to all those involved in the space sector and highlighted that National Space Day has quickly become a source of great enthusiasm for the nation’s youth. He noted that in the past 11 years, the government has implemented numerous reforms to propel the space sector forward.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the growing integration of space technology into governance, citing its use in various schemes such as satellite-based crop assessments, providing safety information to fishermen, and supporting disaster management. He emphasized that India’s progress in space is directly enhancing the lives of ordinary citizens. He also challenged Indian space startups to create five unicorns in the next five years and to increase the number of annual rocket launches from 5-6 to 50.
