New Delhi: Soon after the terror infrastructure in Pakistan and PoK was hit past midnight, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval briefed his counterparts in various countries and told them that India did not want to escalate but was ready to “retaliate resolutely” if Islamabad decides to escalate.
Doval called up his counterparts from the US, China, Saudi Arabia and a number of other countries and briefed them about ‘Operation Sindoor’ under which 9 terror targets were hit across the border to avenge the Pahalgam carnage of April 22 when 26 Indians, mostly tourists, were gunned down in cold-blood by a group of terrorists.
The NSA apprised his counterparts about the “actions taken and method of execution, which was measured, non-escalatory and restrained”, sources said.
He emphasised that India had “no intent to escalate but was well prepared to retaliate resolutely should Pakistan decide to escalate”, the sources added.
Doval spoke with the US NSA & Secretary of State Marco Rubio, UK NSA Jonathan Powell, Saudi NSA Musaid Al Aiban, UAE’s Sheikh Tahnoon, secretary general of NSC of UAE Ali Al Shamsi and NSA of Japan Masataka Okano, sources said.
Contact was also established with Russian NSA Sergei Shoigu, member of political bureau of CPC Central Committee & Minister of Foreign Affairs of PRC Wang Yi and diplomatic adviser to French President Emmanuel Bonne, they said.
The NSA will be in touch with his counterparts in the days ahead.
