Srinagar: The government of Jammu and Kashmir introduced its first legislation in the Legislative Assembly on Saturday, Introduced First Bill of its term, aiming to align J&K’s GST law with Amendments.
As per news agency JKNS that Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, on behalf of Finance Minister Omar Abdullah, introduced the Jammu & Kashmir Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill-2025 in the House after the Question Hour.
The bill is aimed at aligning J&K’s GST law with amendments made in the Central Goods and Services Tax law.
According to officials, the amendments are regulatory in nature, focusing on tax regulation, and do not involve any recurring or non-recurring expenditure.
It may be recalled that after the imposition of central rule in J&K in 2018, the legislative powers of the J&K assembly had been vested with the Parliament. (JKNS)
