New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of neglecting the development of Delhi and building his own “sheesh mahal”.

Shah’s attack on Kejriwal came a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi had slammed the AAP by calling it as an “aapda” (disaster), which has taken the National Capital in its grip in the past 10 years.

Speaking at the launch of working women’s hostel block, Sushma Bhawan, developed by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) here, the Home Minister alleged that despite having the opportunity to focus on the development of Delhi’s infrastructure over 10 years, the focus was shifted to constructing a ‘sheesh mahal’ instead of prioritizing development.

Taking a dig at Kejriwal, Shah said, “The man who wanted to change the politics of India and not use any government vehicles or bungalow has build a sheesh mahal worth Rs 45,000 crore on 50,000 yard land. The people of the National Capital are demanding accountability for this expenditure”.

He further alleged that Kejriwal could not give clean water to the people of Delhi but had a 15 crore water system installed for four people in his house.

Giving a record of the development work of the Narendra Modi government in Delhi, Shah said, “In the last 10 years here, Rs 68,000 crore infrastructure related work has been done by the Narendra Modi government. Those who do not want to give account of their work and have the habit of asking from others, I want to tell them that today I will give record of every penny”.

He said, “We invested Rs 41,000 crores in road development, Rs 15,000 crores in railway-related projects, and Rs12,000 crores to enhance services at the airport and its surroundings.

The Home Minister said, “Whatever I have said is just half of what we have done. I will come with full record of my government’s work during the elections. But I want to ask what have you (Kejriwal) done for the people of Delhi”.

Accusing Kejriwal of being allegedly involved in scams, he said, “You did liquor scam, corruption in the name of mohalla clinic, scams in the name of medicines, CCTVs, purchsse of buses and the biggest scam was done for personal facilities to build your own ‘Sheesh mahal’. You owe an answer to the people of Delhi”.

Shah also virtually inaugurated a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital in Moti Bagh.

The event was graced by several dignitaries, including the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, V K Saxena and member of parliament from New Delhi Bansuri Swaraj.
