New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay foundation stone of multiple projects including a 13-km stretch of Delhi-Meerut regional rapid transit system (RRTS) worth over Rs 12,200 crore in Delhi on Sunday.

The 13 km stretch of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor between Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar has been built at an estimated cost of Rs 4,600 crore.

“With this inauguration, Delhi will get its first Namo Bharat (RRTS) connectivity. This will significantly ease travel between Delhi and Meerut and will benefit millions of people through high-speed and comfortable travel along with unmatched safety and reliability,” said a release from the Prime Minister’s Office.

As 42 kms of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor is already operational, opening of the new stretch would take the operational length to 55 kms.

Modi had inaugurated the first 17-kilometer Priority Section between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot on October 20, 2023. On March 7, 2024, another 17-kilometer stretch between Duhai and Modinagar North was inaugurated, followed by the operationalization of Meerut South RRTS Station on August 18, 2024.

Once the entire 82-kilometer corridor is completed by June 2025, passengers will be able to travel from Delhi to Meerut in less than an hour.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the 2.8 km stretch between Janakpuri and Krishna Park of Delhi Metro Phase-IV worth around Rs 1,200 crore. This will be the first stretch of Delhi Metro Phase-IV to be inaugurated. The areas of West Delhi such as Krishna Park, parts of Vikaspuri, Janakpuri among others will be benefitted.

The PM will lay the foundation stone of the 26.5 km Rithala-Kundli section of Delhi Metro Phase-IV, worth around Rs 6,230 crore. This corridor will connect Rithala in Delhi to Nathupur (Kundli) in Haryana, significantly enhancing connectivity in the North-Western parts of Delhi and Haryana. Once operational, it will facilitate travel across Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh through the extended Red Line.

He will also lay the foundation stone for the new building for the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) at Rohini, New Delhi, to be constructed at the cost of around Rs 185 crore.
