Srinagar, Oct 16 (JKNS): Residents of Gousia Colony in Bemina, near Rasan Ghat, have expressed concern over the growing menace of stray dogs in the area.
A group of locals told news agency JKNS that the presence of around 40 dogs has become a serious safety concern for students, children, elderly people and other pedestrians.
Locals said that the movement of stray dogs in residential lanes has made it difficult for children and students to move around freely, particularly while going to and returning from schools. Elderly residents and other pedestrians also face difficulties while walking through the area.
Ufeef, a local resident, said the situation has become worrying for families, particularly those whose children have to walk through the colony daily. He urged the concerned authorities to take timely measures to ensure public safety.
Nabeel said the presence of a large number of stray dogs has created fear among residents, adding that children and elderly people are particularly vulnerable. He appealed to the authorities to intervene before any untoward incident takes place.
Nasir said residents have been facing difficulties due to the stray dog population and urged the concerned department to take appropriate steps to address the issue.
The residents have appealed to the Srinagar Municipal Corporation and other concerned authorities to look into the matter and take necessary measures to ensure the safety of people in Gousia Colony, Bemina, near Rasan Ghat. (JKNS)
