Uri-National Highway to Remain Closed on Oct 4, 11 for Hill-Cutting Work

Srinagar, Oct 3 (JKNS): The Uri-National Highway will remain temporarily closed on October 4 and 11 to facilitate hill-cutting work, as per an order issued by the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Uri.

The closure has been authorised following a request from the Officer Commanding, 53 RCC (GREF), for carrying out the hill-cutting work on the highway, as per news agency JKNS.

 

The general public, commuters and transport operators have been advised to use the alternative route via Bandi-Paranpillan-Dachi during the closure period.

 

The order further states that no hill-cutting work shall be carried out on government working days between 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM and from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM.

 

The executing agency has been directed to keep the road open for vehicular movement during these timings and ensure all necessary safety measures for the protection of commuters.

 

The order was issued by Prince Kumar, IAS, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Uri, on October 3, 2026. (JKNS)
