Srinagar, Sept 28 (JKNS): Following the decision of the Council of Ministers, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has issued orders extending coverage under the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) to eligible employees appointed against posts advertised or notified prior to December 24, 2009, but who joined service under the New Pension Scheme (NPS).
Under the order, as pwr news agency JKNS, eligible employees will be provided a one-time option to switch from the NPS to the OPS. The option has to be exercised through the proper channel within three months from the date of issuance of the order.
The Government has clarified that the option, once exercised, shall be final. Employees who do not exercise the option within the stipulated period will continue to remain covered under the New Pension Scheme.
The decision is expected to extend OPS coverage to thousands of employees appointed against posts advertised or notified before the cut-off date. (JKNS)
