Bandipora, September 24: A religious gathering was held at Jamia Qadriya Trigam Shadipora on the occasion of the Urs Mubarak of Shaykh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA), where a special programme featuring Khatm-ul-Mujazat, Durood-o-Azkar and prayers was organised. The gathering was followed by Ziyarat.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Chief Patron of Karwan-e-Islami International, Shaykh Ghulam Rasool Hami, highlighted the significance of the Urs and paid tribute to the spiritual legacy and teachings of Shaykh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA).
Responding to a question regarding the liquor ban resolution in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sheikh Hami said that he had no expectations from the Assembly, alleging that promises made before elections are forgotten after votes are secured.
“We have no expectations from an Assembly that makes promises before elections to seek votes and then forgets the issue of a liquor ban,” he said.
Shaykh Hami expressed hope that the day would soon come when liquor would be completely eliminated from Jammu and Kashmir.
He also appreciated the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan launched by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in Jammu and Kashmir, describing efforts aimed at combating drug and substance abuse as important for Society.
