Budgam, September 22, Educationist and motivational speaker Manjeet Singh Gill was honoured at the Viksit Bharat Kashmir Youth Employment Summit 2026 held in Srinagar in recognition of his contribution to education, youth guidance, skill development and youth empowerment.
Manjeet Singh Gill is currently serving as a teacher at PM SHRI Boys Higher secondary School, Humhama. He said that he has around 26 years of experience in the field of education. He also recalled the contribution of his father, who served as a teacher in the education sector for nearly four decades. He said his father’s services in education inspired him to work in the field of teaching, training and guiding students.
Addressing the gathering, Manjeet Singh Gill said Kashmir has a rich educational, cultural and traditional heritage, which needs to be preserved and developed while being connected with modern opportunities. Referring to papier-mâché, carpet weaving, handicrafts and other traditional skills, he said these crafts can be promoted through modern training to create employment and self-employment opportunities for youth.
He said the purpose of education is not limited to obtaining certificates, but also includes developing good اخلاق, effective communication, respect for teachers and elders, social values and a sense of responsibility among students.
He stressed the need to further promote skill-based education and training programmes at the higher secondary level. He said PM SHRI Boys Higher secondary Humhama is running programmes related to information technology, agriculture and other vocational training areas, which can provide students with practical skills and help them secure employment opportunities in the future.
Gill appealed to the youth to acquire skills alongside education, identify their abilities and make use of self-employment opportunities. He said that through hard work, education, skills and positive thinking, young people can become self-reliant and play an important role in the development of society.
He also mentioned the efforts being made by Education Minister Sakeena Itoo in the education sector and stressed the need for further improvement in educational policies and skill-development training programmes.
Manjeet Singh Gill thanked the organisers of the Viksit Bharat Kashmir Youth Employment Summit, saying that such programmes provide an important platform for youth, teachers and people associated with different sectors to discuss issues related to education, employment, entrepreneurship and skill development.
