Srinagar, Aug 29 (JKNS): Former Jammu and Kashmir Minister and senior political leader Ghulam Hassan Khan died after a prolonged illness in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday evening.
Khan, who was associated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was elected to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly in 2002 and later served as the Minister of State for Social Welfare.
He subsequently parted ways with the PDP and contested the 2008 Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections as an independent candidate.
His death was mourned by political leaders, colleagues and people from different sections of society, who expressed condolences to the bereaved family and paid tribute to his political and public service.
Ghulam Hassan Khan will be laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Shopian, according to reports. (JKNS)
