Sujit Kumar Singh Takes Charge of New IGP Kashmir Zone

Srinagar, Aug 27 (JKNS): Sujit Kumar Singh has taken over as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, following his appointment by the Jammu and Kashmir Government in a major police reshuffle.

Details available with news agency JKNS stated that IGP Sujit assumed charge of IGP Kashmir this evening.

Kumar, who previously served as IG Security and IG Crime in Jammu and Kashmir, brings decades of experience in counter-insurgency operations, security and law-and-order management in the Valley.

A native of Patna, Bihar, and an alumnus of Delhi University’s Hindu College, Kumar has served in several key districts of Jammu and Kashmir, including Kargil, Reasi, Srinagar and Baramulla.

He has also served as DIG Central Kashmir Range, gaining extensive experience in managing security and law-and-order challenges across the region.

Kumar has further served on central deputation with the Special Protection Group (SPG) and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), where he handled important security responsibilities.

His appointment as IGP Kashmir comes at a time when the Kashmir Zone continues to remain a key focus of security and law-and-order management in the Union Territory.

Kumar is expected to draw upon his extensive field and operational experience in his new assignment as head of the Kashmir Zone Police. (JKNS)
