Srinagar, July 27 (JKNS): The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Monday celebrated its 88th Raising Day with patriotic fervour and ceremonial grandeur at the Group Centre (GC) Srinagar, where senior officers paid homage to the martyrs, honoured gallantry awardees and reaffirmed the Force’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s internal security.
As per news agency JKNS, Srinagar Sector CRPF celebrated 88th Raising Day of CRPF with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at Group Centre, CRPF, Srinagar. The Sector and all units/offices, deployed across Srinagar, Budgam & Ganderbal districts, also celebrated the nationwide observances marking 88 years of service, courage, and sacrifice.
Raised on 27 July 1939 as the Crown Representative’s Police at Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh, the Force was rechristened the CRPF after Independence under the CRPF Act of 1949. CRPF is playing a pivotal role in maintaining internal security, counter-insurgency operations, anti-naxal operations, law-and-order duties, VIP security, disaster relief, and peacekeeping.
Shri Rajesh Kumar, Special Director General, J&K Zone CRPF graced the occasion at GC Srinagar, as chief guest. The event was also attended by Shri Pawan Kumar Sharma, IG Srinagar Sector CRPF, Shri Vineet Brij Lal, IG Kashmir Ops Sector CRPF and other senior officers of CRPF. SDG J&K Zone CRPF extended warm greetings and heartfelt congratulations to all CRPF personnel on the proud occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Rajesh Kumar, SDG J&K Zone CRPF, lauded the glorious history of CRPF appreciating its commendable operational role in Punjab, LWE, North East and Jammu & Kashmir theatres. In his speech, SDG further specifically highlighted the vital role of CRPF in curbing the militancy of J&K in close coordination with sister security agencies and remembered the supreme sacrifices made by brave-hearts of CRPF.
As a mark of deep respect and gratitude, SDG J&K Zone CRPF accompanied by all other officers of CRPF paid solemn homage to the Martyrs at Martyr’s Memorial (Shaheed Smarak) located within the GC campus. A Sainik Sammelan was organized to mark the occasion, during which Shaurya Chakra, Gallantry medal and DG’s Disc awardees were facilitated in recognition of their outstanding service, dedication to duty and operational excellence.
To mark the event and boost morale of the troops, various games and traditional Bara Khana were organized on the occasion. The event concluded with patriotic spirit and a renewed pledge to uphold the values and duties entrusted to the Force.
