Speaking to reporters during the visit, Omar Abdullah, as per news agency JKNS, said affected shop owners have been asked to submit their construction permission documents for verification.

“I have asked the shop owners and tenants to submit all documents related to construction permissions in the Deputy Commissioner’s office. After verification, those whose structures were built with valid permissions will be provided compensation and government assistance as per rules,” Omar said.

The Chief Minister said traders had requested temporary relocation to the newly constructed municipal shopping complex.

“The R&B Department will first inspect the municipal complex. If it is declared safe, the government will make arrangements for the temporary rehabilitation of the affected shopkeepers,” he said.

Omar also said the government would examine the traders’ request to reconstruct their shops at the same location.

“The shopkeepers have requested permission to rebuild at the same site. The government will examine the proposal and take an appropriate decision,” he added.

Referring to the terror attack in Anantnag in which a police head constable was martyred, the Chief Minister strongly condemned the incident.

“It is a cowardly act by terrorists. Such attacks will neither intimidate the people nor help terrorists achieve their objectives. Jammu and Kashmir Police will identify those responsible and bring them to justice,” Omar said. (JKNS)
