Srinagar, July 21 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said the Government of India has assured all possible assistance to Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of the devastating flash floods that struck Rajouri, Poonch and Doda districts, claiming several lives and causing widespread damage.

Addressing the valedictory function of the 100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan at SKICC Srinagar, LG Sinha, as per news agency JKNS, expressed profound grief over the loss of lives in the recent natural calamity.

“I pay my heartfelt tributes to those who lost their lives in the flash floods in Rajouri, Poonch and Doda. I extend my deepest condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families,” LG Sinha said.

He said Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to him on Sunday and assured the Jammu and Kashmir administration of every possible support from the Central Government.

“Yesterday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held detailed discussions with me and assured that the Government of India will provide every possible assistance and support to the affected families,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

LG Sinha said the civil administration, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other rescue agencies are working tirelessly in the affected areas to ensure timely relief and minimise the impact of the disaster.

“The civil administration, police and all concerned agencies are engaged in relief and rescue operations. Every possible effort is being made to reduce the hardships faced by the affected people and restore normalcy at the earliest,” he added. (JKNS)
