Srinagar, July 20 (JKNS): Rulling National Conference (NC) leaders and workers on Monday staged a protest outside the party headquarters, Nawa-e-Subha, in Srinagar, demanding the immediate restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and accusing the Centre of denying the people their democratic rights.

As per news agency JKNS, scores of NC leaders and workers assembled at the party headquarters, raising slogans in favour of statehood and urging the Central Government to fulfil its commitment to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s full statehood.

During the protest, several party workers said the people of Jammu and Kashmir have been deprived of their constitutional and democratic rights and vowed to continue their peaceful struggle until statehood is restored.

One woman protester said, “Our every right is being taken away. Nothing has been returned to us so far, but we will fight for our rights till our last breath.”

Another party worker said the demand for statehood reflects the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and appealed to the Centre to honour the assurances made regarding its restoration.

The protesters asserted that their movement would continue through democratic means until Jammu and Kashmir regains its statehood, describing it as essential for restoring the region’s democratic and constitutional rights. (JKNS)
