As part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign, the District Administration and Police on Saturday demolished three illegally constructed structures belonging to alleged drug peddlers in the Chairu and Mazhama areas of Magam Sub-Division.

The operation was carried out in the presence of Revenue and Police officials. During the drive, three illegal shops, an unauthorized boundary fence, and encroachments over five marlas of land were also removed.

The action forms part of the district administration’s sustained campaign against the drug menace, aimed at dismantling illegally acquired assets of individuals allegedly involved in drug trafficking and curbing the spread of narcotics across the district.

Earlier, the District Administration, with the support of District Police Budgam, had also demolished four illegal structures belonging to alleged drug peddlers in the Parnewa and Arigam areas of Beerwah Sub-Division. That operation included the demolition of four illegal shops, a cowshed, and an illegally constructed tile manufacturing unit.

The latest demolition drive in Magam was conducted by the Revenue Department under the supervision of Tehsildar Magam, Abrar Ahmad. Security and administrative support was provided by SDPO Magam Mohammad Ashraf Lisay and SHO Magam Khursheed Ahmad. A heavy police deployment remained in place throughout the operation, ensuring that the demolition drive was completed peacefully without any law and order issues.

Reaffirming its commitment to eradicating the drug menace, the District Administration said that strict action against drug peddlers will continue without interruption. It stated that illegally acquired properties linked to the narcotics trade will be identified and dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.

The administration also appealed to the public to cooperate with the District Administration and Police in the fight against drugs by sharing credible information with the concerned authorities, enabling collective efforts to make society free from the menace of narcotics. (JKNS)
