Body of Missing 10-Year-Old Boy Recovered from Kishenganga River After 12-Day Search

Bandipora, July 18 (JKNS): The body of a 10-year-old boy, who had gone missing after drowning in the Kishenganga River in the Gurez Valley earlier this month, was recovered on Saturday after an extensive 12-day search operation, officials said.

Officials told news agency JKNS that the body was spotted near the Kanzalwan dam site on Saturday afternoon and was subsequently retrieved by rescue teams.

The deceased has been identified as Babar Bashir (10), a resident of Tulail, Bandipora.

Officials said the boy had drowned in the Kishenganga River near Sheikhpora in Tulail on July 6, following which police, rescue teams and local volunteers launched a massive search operation to trace him.

After completing medico-legal formalities, the body will be handed over to the family for the last rites.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident and completed the necessary legal proceedings. (JKNS)
