Srinagar, July 12 (JKNS): Two brothers sustained injuries after a gas cylinder exploded during a fire incident in a two-storey residential house at Cheeni Chowk area of Anantnag on Sunday, officials said.

An official from fire and emergency services told news agency JKNS that a fire broke out in a two-storey residential house at Cheeni Chowk, prompting an immediate response from the Fire and Emergency Services Headquarters Anantnag along with Fire Station City.

During the incident, two brothers from the same family were injured due to the explosion of a gas cylinder inside the house.

One of the injured, who sustained minor injuries, was shifted to a nearby hospital, while the other, who suffered grievous burn injuries, was referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for advanced treatment.

The fire has been brought under control, while cooling operations are presently underway to prevent any flare-up. The exact cause of the fire is being ascertained, official said. (JKNS)
