Srinagar, July 12 (JKNS): A pony porter was killed after a falling boulder struck his tent near the Eidgah area of Chandanwari along the Shri Amarnath Yatra route late on Saturday evening, officials said.
An official told news agency JKNS, The deceased has been identified as Shabir Ahmad Shah (27), son of Mohammad Yaseen Shah, a resident of Brad Chairwan, Aishmuqam, Anantnag.
The incident occurred during the late evening hours when Shabir Ahmad Shah was sleeping inside his tent near Eidgah Chandanwari. A large boulder suddenly fell onto the tent, causing fatal injuries.
They said the victim died on the spot before any medical assistance could be provided.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident, while further proceedings have been initiated. (JKNS)
