Srinagar, July 10 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on Friday said that over 90 percent of the enrolled students appeared in the National Merit-cum-Means Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) Examination 2025-26, conducted across the Union Territory under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of the Government of India aimed at supporting meritorious students from economically weaker sections.
Board in a statement issued here to news agency JKNS said, a total of 6,000 candidates appeared in the National Merit-cum-Means Scholarship (NMMS) Examination 2025-26 out of 6,644 enrolled students, registering an overall attendance of 90.30 percent.
The examination was successfully conducted by JKBOSE under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of the Government of India aimed at identifying and supporting meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections studying in Government and Government-aided schools.
The examination was conducted smoothly under the overall supervision, guidance and support of Ghulam Hassan Sheikh (JKAS), Chairman-cum-Secretary, JKBOSE, while Dr. Parveen Singh, Director Academics and Liaison Officer (NMMS), coordinated the conduct of the examination in association with officers and officials of the Academics Division.
JKBOSE appreciated the wholehearted cooperation extended by the Chief Education Officers, who functioned as District Nodal Officers (NMMSS), centre superintendents, deputy centre superintendents, invigilators and inspection teams in ensuring a transparent and orderly conduct of the examination across the Union Territory.
The Board also expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the successful conduct of the examination and helped provide a conducive environment for the candidates.
JKBOSE reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency, fairness and excellence in the implementation of the National Merit-cum-Means Scholarship Scheme and extended its best wishes to all students who appeared in the examination. (JKNS)
