Srinagar, July 8 (JKNS): Former Chairperson of the District Development Council (DDC) Baramulla, Safina Baig, wife of senior politician and PDP co-founder Muzaffar Hussain Baig, on Wednesday joined the ruling National Conference (NC) at the party headquarters in Srinagar.
According to details available with news agency JKNS, Safina Baig joined the National Conference along with her supporters in the presence of NC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Minister for Rural Development Javid Ahmad Dar, senior leader Ali Muhammad Sagar, Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan, and other party leaders.
Her joining is being viewed as a significant political boost for the National Conference in Baramulla district, where the party had secured six of the seven Assembly seats in the 2024 elections.
Safina Baig’s husband, Muzaffar Hussain Baig, is one of the founding leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and served as the Deputy Chief Minister during the PDP-Congress coalition government. (JKNS)
