Srinagar, July 1 (JKNS): Superintending Engineer, Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED), Kashmir, Er. Samiullah Beigh, on Wednesday conducted an extensive inspection of four major flagship sewerage and environmental infrastructure projects being executed under Government of India initiatives across the Kashmir Valley.

According to officials, the Superintending Engineer reviewed the progress of the Dhoodganga Phase-I Sewerage Project comprising a 14 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), Dhoodganga Phase-II Sewerage Project with a 6 MLD STP and 11-km sewerage network, Chubtikul-Jhelum Sewerage Project featuring an 8 MLD STP and 23-km sewerage network, and the Dal Sewerage Treatment Project comprising a 30 MLD STP with a 210-km sewerage network.

 

During the inspection, Er. Beigh directed engineers and executing agencies to accelerate the pace of work while ensuring strict adherence to quality and environmental standards.

 

He emphasised the need for deploying additional manpower and resources at all project sites to ensure timely completion of the works within the deadlines prescribed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

 

The Superintending Engineer said the successful completion of these projects would play a significant role in pollution abatement, protection of water bodies, strengthening sanitation infrastructure and promoting environmental sustainability across Kashmir.

 

Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers and other departmental officers accompanied the Superintending Engineer during the inspection and briefed him on the progress of the projects. (JKNS)
