Budgam, July 1 (JKNS): Twenty-nine people, including the driver, were injured after a Tata passenger bus met with an accident at Kawnar, near Nasrullahpora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday.
Reports reaching news agency JKNS stated that, The bus was travelling from Beerwah to Budgam when the accident occurred. The exact cause of the mishap is yet to be ascertained.
Before emergency responders arrived, residents of Nasrullahpora rushed to the accident site and immediately launched rescue operations. The locals safely evacuated the injured passengers from the damaged bus, and their timely efforts played a crucial role in saving lives.
All the injured were shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Budgam, where they received prompt medical treatment.
The Block Medical Officer (BMO), Budgam, said that as soon as information about the accident was received, all available ambulances were dispatched to the scene without delay. He added that the injured passengers were provided immediate medical care, while one patient was referred to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, for specialised treatment.
According to the BMO, all the injured are in stable condition and are receiving the best possible medical care.
Authorities said that the passengers travelling in the Tata bus were not all local residents but belonged to different villages and areas.
Upon receiving information about the accident, the Jammu and Kashmir Police also reached the spot promptly, assisted in the rescue operation, managed the situation, and facilitated emergency response efforts.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.
The prompt rescue efforts by the people of Nasrullahpora, along with the swift response of the Health Department and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, have been widely appreciated for ensuring timely rescue and medical assistance to the injured. (JKNS)
