Teenager Drowns While Bathing in Kupwara Pond

Kupwara, June 17 (JKNS): A 15-year-old boy died on Tuesday after drowning in a pond in the Manigah area of Haihama in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said on Wednesday.

Officials told news agency JKNS that the boy, a resident of Glassdaggi Manigah, Haihama, allegedly slipped into a pond while bathing and drowned.

They said locals and rescuers immediately retrieved him from the water body in an unconscious condition and shifted him to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kupwara for treatment.

However, despite efforts by doctors to save his life, the boy succumbed at the hospital, officials said.

The body is currently lying at SDH Kupwara, while further proceedings have been initiated. (JKNS)
