Bandipora, Jun 17 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said the National Conference (NC) would remain steadfast in its political ideology and would not alter its stand for the sake of power, asserting that the party’s principles were “not for sale.”

Speaking to reporters during a visit to Bandipora district, as per news agency JKNS, CM Omar said that while every political party was free to take its own decisions, the National Conference’s position remained clear and consistent.

“The National Conference has a long political legacy and a set of values that guide its decisions. Those principles are not for sale,” he said while responding to a question regarding reports of some opposition MPs supporting the NDA on select issues.

The Chief Minister said the party’s commitment was towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir and not towards securing political advantage through shifting alliances.

His remarks came during a tour of various development sites in Bandipora, where he reviewed ongoing projects and assessed the progress of infrastructure works in the district.

Officials briefed the Chief Minister about several development initiatives currently being implemented in the area.

Omar Abdullah said the government’s priority was to improve public services and ensure timely completion of development projects, adding that investments in infrastructure would help address long-pending requirements in different sectors.

During the visit, he also interacted with local residents and various delegations, who highlighted issues related to roads, electricity, drinking water, healthcare and employment opportunities.

The Chief Minister assured them that their concerns would be examined and necessary measures taken wherever required.

Reiterating the National Conference’s political stand, Omar Abdullah said the party would continue to follow its established principles irrespective of developments in national politics. (JKNS)
