Srinagar, Jun 10 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday underscored the need to bridge the gap between scientific research and public healthcare, asserting that scientific knowledge must translate into tangible public health action to better combat infectious diseases, strengthen vaccine effectiveness and improve healthcare delivery.
As per news agency JKNS, LG Sinha on Wednesday called for harnessing Artificial Intelligence and advanced immunological research to revolutionise healthcare delivery, strengthen pandemic preparedness and accelerate the translation of laboratory discoveries into real-world patient care. Addressing the inaugural session of the Annual Conference of the Indian Immunology Society, ‘IMMUNOCON-2026’, in Srinagar, the Lieutenant Governor urged scientists, researchers and healthcare experts to collaborate on emerging challenges, including climate-linked health threats and precision medicine, to build a stronger and more resilient healthcare ecosystem.
The prestigious conference, organised by the Advanced Centre for Human Genetics, SKIMS, is themed “Beneath the Grandeur of Chinar: Illuminating Mysteries from Fundamentals to Translational Frontiers in Health”.
In his keynote address, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the evolving role of immunology in biomedical innovation and healthcare, describing the human immune system as one of nature’s most extraordinary living architectures that protects the body with remarkable precision.
He stressed the need to translate scientific knowledge into effective public health action and strengthen immunological research to improve vaccine effectiveness, combat infectious diseases and enhance healthcare delivery systems.
The Lieutenant Governor observed that continuous innovation in immunology remains a moral obligation for preparing humanity against future global health threats.
“I consider Precision Medicine to be a major revolution in the healthcare sector today. Scientists, experts and researchers participating in this conference must collaborate and focus on developing solutions capable of transforming medical science,” he said.
Calling for deeper collaboration among stakeholders, LG Sinha identified three priority areas for future research and innovation.
“First, there is a need to develop ‘Immuno-AI Fusion’ systems using Artificial Intelligence tools to create immune profiles across different age groups. Second, scientists must work on ‘Climate Immunity’ to address emerging environmental health challenges and future pandemics. Third, stakeholders in Translational Medicine must reduce the time gap between laboratory discoveries and practical patient care,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor also expressed gratitude to the global immunology community for its lifelong dedication to safeguarding human life and advancing medical science.
He noted that hosting the annual conference of the Indian Immunology Society in Jammu and Kashmir aligns with the region’s historic legacy as a centre of knowledge, learning and scientific inquiry.
