During the review, the Mission Director assessed the implementation status of key flagship programmes, including the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), Jammu & Kashmir Competitiveness Improvement Project (JKCIP), Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, Kisan Credit Card (KCC), Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) and other sectoral initiatives aimed at strengthening the agricultural economy of the district.

The meeting was informed that a total of 48,289 applications have been received under HADP in Kupwara district, of which 35,727 applications have been approved so far. Under the programme, 9,793 units have been established across the district, generating an estimated revenue of around ₹38 crore, reflecting the growing impact of the scheme on rural livelihoods and agricultural entrepreneurship.

It was further informed that 159 Kisan Khidmat Ghar (KKG) centres are currently functional in the district and an equal number of Krishi Udyamis have been engaged to provide last-mile extension services, facilitate technology adoption, and support farmers in accessing government schemes and services.

Dr. Dattatray also reviewed the status of critical interventions under HADP and JKCIP, including infrastructure readiness and licensing, development of the seed and seed multiplication chain, implementation of Kissan Sathi activities, promotion of niche and high-value crops, expansion of vegetable cultivation, strengthening of agricultural marketing systems, and promotion of apiculture and allied sectors.

Emphasizing the need for accelerated implementation and effective convergence among departments, the Mission Director directed the concerned officers to ensure timely execution of approved projects, strengthen field-level monitoring, and enhance outreach to farmers for maximising the benefits of the programmes.

He underscored the importance of innovation, value addition, and market linkages in transforming the agricultural sector and reiterated the government’s commitment to making agriculture a sustainable and profitable livelihood option for farming communities.

The officers briefed the Mission Director on the progress achieved under various components and highlighted district-specific initiatives being undertaken to improve productivity, create employment opportunities, and strengthen the rural economy.

The review meeting concluded with detailed discussions on future targets, challenges, and strategies for ensuring the successful implementation of HADP, JKCIP, and other developmental programmes in the district.(JKNS)
