Two Drug Peddlers Arrested, Over 3 Kg Charas & Heroin Seized in Anantnag

Anantnag, May 19 (JKNS): Intensifying its aggressive anti-narcotics campaign across south Kashmir, Anantnag Police on Tuesday launched multiple successful operations in Sangam and Aishmuqam areas, recovering large quantities of charas and heroin-like substances while registering three FIRs under the NDPS Act.

As per news agency JKNS, Police achieved major success in multiple anti-drug operations carried out in Sangam and Aishmuqam areas.

Acting on a specific tip-off, a Police party from Police Post Sangam conducted a raid at the residential house of Manzoor Ahmad Shah S/o Late Abdul Rehman Shah R/o Ikhrajpora, Marhama. During the search, 3.340 kilograms of charas powder-like contraband substance was recovered from the residential premises. However, the accused was not present at the spot during the raid, and efforts are underway to apprehend him. In this regard, Case FIR No. 131/2026 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered and investigation has been set into motion.

In another operation, a Police party from Police Station Aishmuqam during routine naka checking at Magrey Mohalla, Aishmuqam noticed a suspicious person coming from Ainoo towards Aishmuqam. On noticing the police party, the suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended tactfully by the alert naka party. During his search, an orange-coloured polythene bag carried by him was found containing approximately 17 grams of heroin-like substance. The accused identified as Mudasir Ahmad Gilkar @ Uzain S/o Nisar Ahmad Gilkar R/o Magrey Mohalla, Aishmuqam. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered and investigation taken up.

In a separate naka checking operation at Rangkadal, Aishmuqam, another suspicious person coming from Jamooh towards Aishmuqam attempted to conceal his presence after noticing the naka party. He was apprehended tactfully and during his search, approximately 13 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. During preliminary questioning, he identified himself as Mehraj-u-Din Bala @ Pintu Bala S/o Ghulam Mohammad Bala R/o Peer Mohalla, Aishmuqam. In this regard, a case under relevant sections of law has also been registered and investigation initiated. (JKNS)
