J&K Govt Orders Major Reshuffle in Higher Education Department; Principals, In-Charge Principals Transferred

Srinagar, May 18 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Monday ordered a major reshuffle in the Higher Education Department, ordering transfers and postings of Principals, In-charge Principals and assigning charge of Principal posts to senior-most Associate Professors on a look-after basis across various Government Degree Colleges in the Union Territory.

According to Government Order No. 141-JK(HE) of 2026 dated 18-05-2026, issued by the Higher Education Department and signed by Commissioner/Secretary to Government Ram Niwas Sharma (IAS), as per news agency JKNS, the transfers and assignments have been ordered “in the interest of administration” with immediate effect.

 

As per the order, Mr. Mohd Zubair, Principal presently on deputation to Cluster University of Jammu as Dean, has been transferred and posted as Principal, GDC Ghagwal.

 

Mr. Basharat Iqbal, Principal GDC Kishtwar, has been transferred and posted as Principal GDC Bhaderwah.

 

Mr. Farooq Ahmed, Principal GDC Nowshera, has been transferred and posted as Principal GDC Sidhra.

 

Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Principal GDC Udhampur, has been transferred and posted as Principal MAM College Jammu.

 

Mr. Bhavnaish Chand, Principal GDC Ramnagar, has been transferred and posted as Principal GDC Udhampur vice Mr. Sanjay Kumar.

 

Ms. Tasleema Bano, Principal GDC Magam, has been transferred and posted as Principal GDC Baramulla.

 

Mr. Naveen Anand, Principal GCW Bhagwati Nagar, has been transferred and posted as Principal GCW Parade Jammu. The order states that he shall take over charge on 01.06.2026 after the retirement of Mr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo.

 

Ms. Shalini Sharma, Principal GDC Majalta, has been transferred and posted as Principal GCW Bhagwati Nagar Jammu vice Mr. Naveen Anand and shall assume charge on 01.06.2026.

 

Ms. Gazala Gayas, Principal GDC Pampore, has been transferred and posted as Principal GDC Kokernag.

 

Ms. Jyoti Parihar, Principal Government College of Education Jammu, shall additionally hold charge of Dean Education, Cluster University Jammu till further orders.

 

The order further states that the Principal GDC Hyderpora Srinagar shall hold additional charge of Principal GDC Budgam with effect from 01.06.2026 after retirement of Mr. Mohd Amin Malik on 31.05.2026.

 

Among Associate Professors holding look-after charge, Mr. Mohd Farooq has been transferred from GDC Bhaderwah to look after Principal GDC Budhal, while Ms. Sanjeet Kour Sodhi has been shifted from GDC Ukhral to GDC Vijaypur.

 

Mr. Tariq Ahmad Shikari has been transferred from GDC Kralpora to GDC Sogam, Mr. Tariq Ahmad Wani from GDC Tulail to GDC Hadipora, and Mr. Bilal Ahmad Sheikh from GDC Gurez to GDC Beerwah.

 

Mr. Ghulam Abas has been transferred from GDC Kokernag to GDC Pampore, while Ms. Rumania Ashraf from GDC Rajpora has been shifted to GDC Langate.

 

The government has also assigned look-after charge of Principal posts to 22 senior Associate Professors.

 

Mr. Syed Muzaffar Ahmad has been transferred from GDC Bemina and assigned charge of Principal GDC Sopore, while Mr. Umer Din Rather from GDC Thathri shall look after GDC Chatroo.

 

Mr. Abdul Rashid Wani has been assigned GDC Khansahib, Mr. Mohd Sadeeq GDC Nowshera, and Mr. Shokit Hussain GDC Mendhar.

 

Mr. Ab. Gani Kumar from S.P. College Srinagar shall look after GDC Kralpora, while Mr. Rajinder Kumar Sharma has been assigned GDC Ramnagar.

 

Mr. Mansa Ram shall look after GDC Marwah, while Ms. Alpana Vohra has been assigned GDC Majalta and shall assume charge on 01.06.2026.

 

Mr. Satish Kumar has been assigned GDC Ukhral, Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Dar GDC Charar-i-Sharief, and Mr. Syed Gulzar Ahmad GCW Baramulla.

 

Mr. Neen Kumar Manhas shall look after GDC Rajpora, Mr. Kamal Kishore GDC Kupwara, and Mr. Syeed Shouket Rasool GDC Magam.

 

Mr. Lekh Raj has been assigned GDC Kishtwar, while Mr. Sadat Hassan Kar shall look after GDC Tulail.

 

Ms. Mubashir Koul has been assigned GDC Soibugh, while Mr. Assad Ullah Khan shall look after GDC Tangdar from 01.07.2026 after retirement of Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Wani.

 

Mr. Daljeet Singh, presently on deputation to Cluster University Jammu, shall look after GDC Tangmarg from 01.07.2026 after retirement of Ms. Irfan-ul-Majeed.

 

Mr. Farooq Ahmad Mir shall continue to look after GDC Gurez, while Mr. Raj Kumar Gupta has been assigned GDC Chenani.

 

The government order further stated that the arrangement of Associate Professors as In-charge Principals on look-after basis shall remain purely temporary till permanent selection of Principals is received from the J&K Public Service Commission.

 

The order clarified that the arrangement shall not confer any preferential right for promotion and shall automatically cease upon posting of regular Principals.

 

It also stated that the arrangement shall be reversible in case of any adverse report from investigation agencies and shall remain subject to the outcome of writ petitions pending before competent courts of law. (JKNS)
