Budgam, May 16 (JKNS): As part of the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” (Drug-Free India Campaign), 62 RR organised a cycling rally from Tehsil Office Beerwah to Arwah Petrol Pump, with participation from more than 30 cyclists.

The rally was flagged off from the Tehsil Office Beerwah by army and civil officials. Participants displayed great enthusiasm and competitive spirit throughout the event, while spectators along the route cheered and encouraged the cyclists.

The competition concluded at Arwah Petrol Pump, where the cyclist securing first position was awarded a trophy and certificate of appreciation. The second and third position holders were also honoured with certificates and prizes, while medals were distributed among all participants.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, Major Manoj urged the youth of the Valley to stay away from drugs. He said the main objective of the campaign is to make India drug-free and protect the younger generation from the menace of substance abuse. He added that youth are the future of the nation and encouraging them towards positive activities and sports is the need of the hour.

The cyclists expressed happiness over participating in the rally organised under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. They appealed to students and youth to actively participate in sports, education, and constructive activities while staying away from drugs, which destroy human lives and futures.

Social activist Muzamil Mehmood also highlighted the importance of the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” and the “100-Day Nasha Mukt UT J&K Campaign.” He urged young people to avoid drugs and other destructive activities, saying such evils not only ruin individual lives but also negatively impact society as a whole.

As a precautionary measure, the BMO Beerwah had deployed a medical team along with an ambulance to respond promptly to any emergency situation.

Refreshments were arranged for the participants by the Rashtriya Rifles, and trophies and certificates were distributed among the successful cyclists.

A student thanked the Indian Army for organising such activities, stating that these initiatives provide positive direction to the youth. Local residents also appreciated the efforts of the Indian Army and expressed gratitude for the initiative. (JKNS)
