Plantation Drive organized at Faculty of Fisheries, SKUAST-Kashmir, Rangil, Ganderbal

Srinagar, May 15 (JKNS): Faculty of Fisheries, in collaboration with the Dean Students Welfare, SKUAST-Kashmir, and Conservation Council of Kashmir successfully organized a large-scale plantation drive at the Faculty of Fisheries, SKUAST-Kashmir.

The initiative aimed to promote environmental sustainability, enhance campus greenery, and imbibe ecological responsibility among the academic community.

The plantation drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from all employees of the Faculty of Fisheries, including the Dean FoFy, Heads of Divisions, Assistant Students Welfare Officer (ASWO) FoFy and FoH, Faculty Members, staff and students. Together, they contributed to planting saplings across the campus, reinforcing the collective commitment to a greener future.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr) Farooz Ahmad Bhat, Dean Faculty of Fisheries emphasized the importance of such initiatives in combating climate change and fostering a culture of environmental stewardship.

He emphasized that every employee and student should adopt and nurture a planted tree at the Faculty of Fisheries for a period of two to three years to ensure its healthy growth and sustainable development.

Prof. (Dr) Sajad Ahmad Gangoo, Dean Students Welfare, SKUAST-Kashmir, highlighted that Plantation drives are not just symbolic acts but a responsibility we owe to future generations.

By involving our students and faculty in such initiatives, we are nurturing both the environment and the values of sustainability.

This collective effort reflects our vision of a greener, healthier campus and society. Nooran Abid and other representatives from Conservation Council of Kashmir highlighted their dedication to supporting educational institutions in adopting eco-friendly practices and engaging youth in conservation efforts.

The event concluded with a pledge by all participants to nurture the newly planted saplings and continue working towards a sustainable and eco-conscious campus environment. (JKNS)
