An official told news agency JKNS that the inspection revealed poor sanitary conditions inside the food outlet, while visible evidence of cockroach infestation was also found on the premises. The team noted violations of Schedule 4 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and collected samples of prepared food for analytical examination.

During the inspection, it was also found that the Food Business Operator had failed to carry out mandatory pest control measures as required under the Food Safety and Standards Act.

In view of the violations, authorities sealed the establishment and said a challan would be submitted before the competent court for action under various provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

The Food Safety Department, through a public advisory, directed all Food Business Operators to ensure regular pest control and maintain proper hygiene standards in their establishments. It warned that strict action would be taken against violators found compromising food safety norms. (JKNS)
