Anantnag Police Tightens Noose on Narcotics Cultivation; 11 Poppy Growers Arrested in Srigufwara Crackdown

Anantnag, May 7 (JKNS): Continuing its aggressive campaign against narcotics cultivation and drug-related activities, Anantnag Police on Thursday arrested eleven persons involved in multiple cases linked to illegal cultivation of opium poppy in areas falling under Police Station Srigufwara.

As per news agency JKNS, Anantnag Police arrested eleven accused involved in multiple cases related to illegal cultivation of opium poppy registered at Police Station Srigufwara.

The accused persons, involved in various NDPS cases pertaining to unlawful cultivation of opium poppy in different areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Srigufwara, were formally arrested after completion of necessary legal formalities.

The action forms part of the ongoing district-wide drive launched by Anantnag Police to curb narcotics cultivation and dismantle the ecosystem promoting drug abuse and trafficking. Investigations in the cases are underway and further legal proceedings are being carried out as per law.

Anantnag Police remains committed towards strict enforcement of the NDPS Act and appeals to the general public to cooperate with police by sharing information regarding illegal cultivation, drug trafficking or substance abuse for timely and stringent legal action. (JKNS)
