Srinagar, May 6 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday termed the alleged deletion of voters in West Bengal as “wrong” and dismissed reports of defections within the National Conference, asserting that no MLA from the party would leave to support the BJP.

Speaking to reporters, as per news agency JKNS, CM Omar said, “If what has happened in West Bengal is wrong, no one can deny that. Many voters were removed from the voter list, and the court said it will hear the matter after elections. What is the use now when the elections are over and people didn’t get a chance to vote?”

He added, “If the BJP wanted to win, they have won. We will have to see what happens in the rest of the country.”

Refuting claims about internal dissent, he said, “I don’t work on the directions of any other organisation. When I have to speak, I speak. Neither I nor my government remain silent.”

On rumours of MLAs leaving the party, Omar Abdullah said, “These are baseless claims. If such things were happening, I would not be sitting here attending functions. There is no MLA in the National Conference who will leave the party to help the BJP.”

He further said, “These are the same people who helped the BJP in Rajya Sabha elections, which has already been proven through RTI and even mentioned in the Assembly.”

On governance matters, he said, “Many things have been completed and only a few are left, which will also be done gradually. As far as cabinet matters are concerned, we will take decisions at the appropriate time.” (JKNS)
