Srinagar, May 3 (JKNS): The Ministry of Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Sunday said that the Centre has successfully negotiated a reduction in the proposed airfare hike for Haj 2026 pilgrims amid the ongoing West Asia crisis.

In a post on X, as per news agency JKNS, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that airlines had initially sought an increase of $400 per passenger. However, following negotiations, the hike was brought down to just $100 for pilgrims travelling through the Haj Committee of India.

He further said that for pilgrims opting for private tour operators, the airfare increase stands at around $150. The Minister emphasized that the government’s efforts have been focused on reducing the financial burden on pilgrims.

Rijiju added that ensuring a smooth and safe Haj 2026 for all remains a top priority, reiterating the government’s commitment to facilitate the pilgrimage despite prevailing challenges. (JKNS)
