The initiative forms part of the Union Territory’s ongoing 100-day campaign aimed at addressing key public welfare concerns under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha. The anti-drug drive reflects a focused commitment to curb substance abuse through awareness, outreach, and community engagement.

As part of the campaign, IRP 21 Battalion has adopted a multi-pronged strategy to ensure maximum public reach. Informative anti-drug flyers are being distributed at various mobile vehicle check posts across both districts, enabling direct engagement with commuters and the general public. In addition, awareness flyers are being inserted inside widely circulated newspapers across the Kashmir Valley to ensure deeper penetration and maximum outreach among households.

The campaign seeks to highlight the serious consequences of drug abuse while educating youth about its long-term impact on health, families, and society. It also aims to encourage community participation in identifying and addressing drug-related issues and to promote support systems for individuals struggling with substance abuse.

Special emphasis is being laid on youth awareness, recognising their vulnerability to drug-related influences. Through targeted messaging and strategic dissemination, the initiative aims to empower young people with the knowledge and resilience needed to make informed choices.

The UT administration has reiterated its firm resolve to tackle the drug menace through a combination of enforcement and preventive measures. The inclusion of this drive in the 100-day campaign underscores the priority accorded to public health and social stability.

IRP 21 Battalion has appealed to all stakeholders, including parents, educators, community leaders, and citizens, to actively participate in the campaign. Public cooperation is vital in spreading awareness, supporting affected individuals, and reporting drug-related activities to authorities.

The campaign is expected to play a crucial role in building a sustained movement towards a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir, reinforcing the broader vision of a safe and healthy society. (JKNS)
