Srinagar, Apr 24 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday launched a sharp attack on the BJP, alleging that people of J&K are being denied statehood for exercising their democratic choice in favour of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference.

In a post on X, as per news agency JKNS, CM Omar said, “Unnerved by the grand show in Naushera a few days ago, finally a bit of honesty from the BJP – the people of J&K are to be punished and denied statehood because they voted for @JKNC_.”

“So much for their tall promises & claims. Welcome back from Assam Mr LoP. The assembly was quiet, and far more productive, without you,” Omar said.

His remarks came a day after BJP senior leader and Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma stated that restoration of statehood would take place at an appropriate time and should not be linked to any individual.

Sharma had also targeted the Omar Abdullah-led administration, raising concerns over governance and issues related to electricity, employment and public welfare.

The BJP leader further alleged that the current administration has failed to address ground-level challenges, claiming lack of governance, rising corruption and limited public outreach, while basic issues such as water, power and infrastructure continue to remain unresolved. (JKNS)
