Anti-Drug Push Intensifies in Budgam; Police Hold Village-Level PCPG Outreach Meetings

Budgam, Apr 17 (JKNS): Intensifying its outreach under the ongoing 100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Budgam Police on Friday organised a series of village-level Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meetings, aiming to strengthen police-public coordination and mobilise community support against the growing menace of drug abuse.

In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS, As part of the ongoing 100-day campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Budgam Police today organized village-level Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meetings at Sonpah (Beerwah), Khag, and Checkmarg (Hardpanzoo).

The meetings were aimed at strengthening police-public coordination, addressing local concerns, enhancing community participation, and curbing the drug menace at the grassroots level.

During the sessions, officers laid special emphasis on sensitizing participants about the growing menace of substance abuse, particularly among the youth. They highlighted the adverse impact of drug addiction on individuals, families, and society at large, and stressed the need for collective responsibility and community-driven efforts to combat this serious issue.

In addition, pledge-taking ceremonies were conducted at Government Degree College Khansahib and across all Higher Secondary Schools in Sub-Division Khansahib. Students, faculty, and staff participated enthusiastically and took a solemn pledge to work towards eradicating drug abuse and promoting a drug-free society.

Participants were further sensitized about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encouraged to actively support Budgam Police in eliminating the drug menace. Youth were urged to stay away from narcotics and other harmful substances and to act as ambassadors of positive change within their communities. (JKNS)
