Speaking at an event on LG Sinha’s 100-day awareness campaign against drugs at Amar Singh College, Srinagar, the SSP, as per news agency JKNS, said the initiative is part of a focused 100-day action plan under the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’, which he termed a coordinated mission rather than a routine campaign.

He said the programme, envisioned under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, aims to curb the drug menace through a joint strategy involving police, civil departments and the public.

“Police are fully committed and clear in their objective. This is not merely an awareness initiative but a well-planned action strategy, and tangible results will be visible within the next three months,” he said.

Highlighting ongoing efforts, the SSP said Srinagar Police have intensified action against drug peddlers and users, adding that strict enforcement and preventive measures will continue throughout the campaign period.

He stressed that addressing drug abuse requires collective responsibility and urged parents, students and institutions to actively contribute. “This is not just a law enforcement issue but a social challenge that needs united efforts,” he said.

He also appealed to citizens to come forward with information regarding drug-related activities, assuring full confidentiality and protection to informants.

Dr. Chakravarthy further said the goal is to make Srinagar drug-free and contribute towards a narcotics-free Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, he also reviewed preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, assuring that adequate measures are being put in place to ensure a safe and peaceful pilgrimage. (JKNS)
