Speaking at a mega anti-drug programme held at Amar Singh College, Srinagar, the DC, as per news agency JKNS, said, “This campaign is not just an awareness drive but a mission to bring real change on the ground. Students must act as ambassadors and spread awareness within their communities.”

He emphasized that drug addiction destroys lives and families, urging all sections of society to join hands in the fight against narcotics. “A coordinated effort involving civil administration, police, students and the public is essential to tackle this challenge effectively,” he said.

The DC underlined that strict action will be taken against those involved in drug trafficking while also stressing the need for a humane and scientific approach towards rehabilitation of addicts. “Addiction is a serious issue that requires proper treatment and support systems, and facilities like Tele-MANAS and IMHANS are available for assistance,” he added.

Calling for wider public participation, Labroo said the campaign’s success depends on community involvement. “We must ensure that the message reaches every corner of the district through active participation of youth, religious leaders, social activists and civil society,” he said.

Earlier, the DC along with SSP Srinagar flagged off an anti-drug rally and administered an anti-drug pledge to participants, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to a drug-free Srinagar. (JKNS)
