Cuttack, Apr 12 (JKNS): A lady IAS officer has been booked by Odisha Police in connection with an alleged ₹95 lakh cheating case, officials said on Friday.

As per details available to news agency JKNS, the officer, currently posted as Additional Secretary in the Home Department, was named in an FIR following a complaint lodged earlier this year. The complainant stated that he had entered into a deal in November 2022 to purchase a plot for ₹95 lakh, of which ₹85 lakh was paid via RTGS while the remaining ₹10 lakh was given in cash.

Despite receiving the full amount, the officer allegedly failed to register the property or hand over possession. The complainant further alleged that she later claimed the money had been spent and also issued threats.

Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and have sought required government sanction to proceed against the officer. Senior authorities have been informed about the development, while further investigation is in progress. (JKNS)
