SSP Aijaz informed media as per news agency JKNS, that the drive was prompted by repeated complaints regarding mechanics using footpaths for vehicle repairs, which forces pedestrians to walk on busy roads, increasing the risk of accidents.

“These footpaths are designed for pedestrians, yet encroachment by mechanics leaves them with no choice but to use the road, creating dangerous situations,” he said.

The officer added that the initiative also aimed to raise public awareness about traffic regulations and the proper use of footpaths to ensure the safety of pedestrians.

SSP Aijaz appealed to citizens to avoid occupying footpaths and cooperate with traffic authorities, emphasizing that collective responsibility is essential to prevent accidents and maintain smooth traffic flow. (JKNS)
