Shopian, Apr 7 (JKNS): MLA Shopian, Adv. Shabir Ahmad Kullay, on Tuesday met the Hon’ble Chief Minister at Jammu to discuss the damage caused by the hailstorm on 06-04-2026, which has significantly impacted horticulture, particularly apple crops, across several areas of Shopian.
During the meeting, he highlighted the urgent need to bring apple crops under a comprehensive crop insurance scheme to protect farmers from recurring losses. He also stressed the importance of providing subsidies on anti-hail nets to safeguard orchards and strengthen the horticulture sector in the district.
The MLA urged the government to take timely and concrete measures to support affected farmers. (JKNS)
