Bandipora Police Cracks Down on Gambling; 10 Persons Apprehended in Banyari Ajas

Bandipora, Apr 5 (JKNS): In a continued effort to curb social evils and uphold law and order, Bandipora Police successfully busted a gambling setup in Banyari area, apprehending ten persons involved in illegal gambling activities.

Acting on credible information, a police party from Police Post Ajas carried out a well-coordinated raid at Banyari.

 

During the operation, ten individuals were caught red-handed while gambling (playing cards on stake money) at the spot.

 

The accused have been identified as, Nissar Ahmad Dar S/o Wali Mohmad Dar R/o Watalpora Banyari

Mohd Rafiq Shakroo S/o Ab Ahad Shakroo R/o Gundprang. Mohd Rafiq Shah S/o Ab Ahad Shah R/o Astan Mohalla Banyari. Mohd Ramzan Dar S/o Mohd Sidiq Dar R/o Watalpora Banyari. Musawir Malla S/o Ab Aziz Malla R/o Charingpora Hajin. Aijaz Ahmad Lorhanji S/o Wali Mohmad Lorhanji R/o Banyari Sharki. Mohd Shafi Dar S/o Gh Rasool Dar R/o Banyari Sharki. Noor Mohammad Mir S/o Farooq Ahmad Mir R/o Banyari Sharki

Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir S/o Ali Mohd Mir R/o Sadunara

Bashir Ahmad Dar S/o Mohd Ramzan Dar R/o Hajin.

 

During the raid, stake money along with playing cards was recovered from their possession.

 

All the accused persons have been taken into custody, and a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sumbal (PP Ajas). Further investigation is in progress.

 

Bandipora Police reiterates its firm commitment to eradicating illegal activities and maintaining a safe and orderly society.

 

The general public is urged to stay vigilant and report any such unlawful practices to the nearest police establishment. (JKNS)
